Online Stock Trading Guide

5 Benefits Of Online Investing

If we are not already, the time will soon come when we look back and wonder what we did in the days before the Internet. After all, we use the computer and Internet for everything these days. There are even virtual malls where we can do our weekly shopping, in a cart, pay by credit card, and have it delivered to our home! But, whilst a large amount of the Internet may be gimmicks, one area where the introduction of the Internet has had a profound effect is with regard to financial investments. So, what are the 5 benefits of online investing (over more traditional means of investing)?

•  Advice

Previously, in order to have a ready means to obtaining stock information and advice, one needed to open a trading account with a broker. However, we were not sure which stock we wanted to trade before we opened the account! With the advent of the Internet, we now have a ready means to literally thousands of web sites offering advice on what stocks to trade. Of course, some of these sites are more reputable than others – but lots more information and advice is now at our fingertips.

•  Software

Today, using our computer, we can download stock trading software that makes investing simply even for those dummies among us who know little or nothing about how to trade shares on the stock market.

•  Brokers

The Internet gives us access to lots of online brokers who can manage our stock portfolio as close to instantaneously as it is possible to get. Previously the number of brokers to chose from was limited to the traditional trading houses; and, unless we were major investors, getting action out of them to undertake anything on our behalf took time – not a good thing in a world where a matter of a few seconds can make all the difference in the world.

•  Commissions

Possibly one of the greatest benefits of the Internet is that brokers are now charging us less to trade our shares. The alternative to them not reducing their commission is that we trade with a different broker.

•  Global

Although globalization has been around for some time, possibly since the 1970s, the advent of the Internet has meant that small, individual, stock traders now have access to global markets. So, if you think you know a thing or two about emerging markets, it is possible to trade your emerging market stock via the internet in real-time.

A combination of the 5 advantages above has resulted in a revolution in stock market trading. Now online brokering means that buying and selling stock is cheaper, faster, easier and more far-reaching for individual investors than at any other time in our history!
