Guide To Options Trading Software
As is the case with all trading software, there are certain minimum requirements that traders of options need to ensure they have when they look for any particular options trading software. In short, this needs to include:
• market data provided on a real-time basis
• Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) screens
• Market news and stories
• Stock market charts, bar-charts, candle charts, etc.
• Stock option quotes and real-time stock selling ticker
• Market averages and indices
• Price and news alert service
• Option screener application
Once the option trader has these downloaded onto their hardware, and has access to the Internet, the options trader is now in a position to start trading in options. Thereafter, depending on what type of investment strategy the option trader elects to undertake, the trader then needs to either use all of the above software application to run an analytical method of electing when to get in or out of a position; or, alternatively, to adopt a technical methodology of deciding when to get in and out.
If the option trader elects to use a technical methodology, then there is also a chance that the trader wants to insert certain boundaries within which he would like the buy or sell. More commonly known as the option screener application, this piece of software assist traders to identify options that they would never have previously taken. Conversely, traders of an analytical method will be making full use of all of the information churned out from all of the above software applications before deciding on an option to take a position in.
Finally, in addition to the software set out above, hardware, and Internet access, the options trader also needs to make sure that they have easy access to an online clearing system that allows them to execute all contracts over the Internet.
